We’ve been seeing a resurgence of 90s fashion everywhere lately. It was a huge trend during the summer and it’s not going away for this fall. But one part of the 90s that I loved the most was 90s prints.
90s prints were extremely urban inspired. Hip hop’s golden age was between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. Artists like Run DMC, Beastie Boys, MC Hammer and Ice-T stole the music scene and became an influential piece to fashion culture. The Versace baroque inspired print became popular with artists such as Notorious B.I.G and Diddy, sporting the Versace silk shirts in their music videos.
Prints themselves used high colors, such as neons, had abstract shapes, and used graphic motifs that would repeat throughout the print. Today we’re seeing the prints used the same way the were used in the 90s, with the return of the Versace silk shirts, crop tops with various graphics on them and the hip hop inspiration the “return of the 90s” is here to stay.
